I just finished Catch 22 by Joseph Heller. I loved it! What a great poke at bureaucracy. The situations are so ridiculous, I had to go back and read a lot of them over a few times to really get the whole joke, but I was laughing the whole way!

Next Generation Artificial Heart
A fascinating thought on the direction of medical device design:
INDEX: - ARTIFICIAL HEART - COLLABORATION AMONGST DESIGNER, ENGINEERS, SCIENTISTS AND MEDICAL SPECIALISTS
While I get lost on many of the technical details of this design outline, It's amazing what kind of ideas are floating around in the world of biotechnology these days!

Shocking Revelation ...
... OK, pretty much what we expected:
ESPN.com - NFL - Moss: 'I have used marijuana' during NFL tenure
Moss comes off as thoughtful and eloquent as ever. Here are a few of his gems:
"I have used, you know, marijuana ... since I've been in the league, but as far as abusing it and, you know, letting it take control over me, I don't do that, no."
"I might. I might have fun. And, you know, hopefully ... I won't get into any trouble by the NFL by saying that, you know. I have had fun throughout my years and, you know, predominantly in the offseason."
"A lot of people are jumping to conclusions because they really don't know the real story or haven't even heard the real story yet. That was really me talking in the past tense of way back in the beginning of my career and my childhood -- especially in high school and college."

Quote of the Day
On changing his stage name to "Diddy":
"I've let down my guard. I'm fully exposed. We are going to have a lot of fun with it. It is the return of hip-hop, rock 'n' roll superstars and they call them Diddy. I'm going to start talking in the third person everything."
- Sean Combs

Crop Circle Marketing
No mystery behind the message in this corn field. How long until companies get the idea to pay farmers to mow logos and advertisements into fields along well traveled flight paths? Brings a whole new meaning to "grassroots marketing"!

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
I just finished reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Yes, I know, I'm probably too old to be reading these books, but I still get a kick out of them. Not a whole lot seemed to happen in the book until the very end, but WOW, what a cliff-hanger of an ending. I already can't wait for the next book to come out and J.K. Rowling apparently won't even start until next summer. As with the rest of the series, I highly recommend reading this book. It's far from great literature, but it is an easy read, and is far more stimulating than sitting in front of the TV. Don't worry if you are twice the age of the target audience (as I am), there is still plenty of fun for you in this book.

Quote of the Day, Part II
On President Bush's Remarks On 'Intelligent Design':
"People might cite George Bush as proof that you can be totally impervious to the effects of Harvard and Yale education."

On the end of the David Chappelle Show:
